A Couple of Projects

Sometimes life gets in the way of crafting and I am sorry to say that I've not done much in the way of expressing my creativity other than a couple of swaps/challenges over the past few weeks.
Here are a few Altered Paper Clips, a first for me, I've never altered them before....these are large paper clips and were made for a group 2 favourites are the black & white clip and the vintage clock clip.
I must admit these are fun to alter and can be quite addictive....great to add to junk journals, scrap books etc.

Below, another first for me are some Index Cards that I altered for a swap. They are slightly bigger than an Artist Trading Card.
The theme for this swap was "Butterflies"
The swap deadline has been reached,so now I await my swaps...

Many Thanks to all of you that drop by my blog....hope to be posting on a regular basis again soon...

Mixed Media Canvas

The March Challenge is underway over at Rhedd's Creative always it is Altered Art/Mixed Media cards, atcs etc.
My design team project is a Mixed Media Canvas.....the canvas is deep edged and measures 8"x 8"

I added texture to the canvas and once dry I added the rest of the elements, mesh and floral lace, leaving the centre area clear of  any embellishing.

While the canvas was drying I set to and altered 9 MDF tiles, using embossed card that I coloured and highlighted with gilding wax.
I then added the tiles to a thin square of MDF, that I sealed with gesso...I now had my centre piece ready

I sprayed the colours on to my canvas, drying each colour as I went a long, until I achieved the look I wanted.
I then left it to completely dry overnight before adding my center piece.....finally I highlighted some areas of the canvas with gilding wax.
Hope to see you over at the challenge which you can find here....Rhedd's Creative Spiirt

A little Gift

Here we are,the 1st of March and a new challenge over at Altered Eclectics starts today....
As always it's Altered Art/Mixed Media...NO cards etc.
This is my design team piece this month..... Jewelery made from Cd fragments.

                                          Items used

After selecting some fragments from the broken CD, I sanded both sides and then added two coats of black gesso.

The backs, coloured and heat embossed.

I then sprayed each piece with the inks, drying each colour in turn.
I pushed each piece on to the ink pad and then covered with embossing powder and then melted the powder with a heat tool.
I did this 4 times for each piece, only because I did'nt have the thicker embossing powder.

While the 4th layer of embossing was still hot,I pressed the rubber stamp in to each piece to create texture, allowing the embossing to cool before removing the stamp.

As each piece cooled down,I rubbed around the edges with my finger to make sure they were all smooth.

The finished being worn by my grandson's girlfriend....
Hope to see you in the challenge over at Altered Eclectics
