Here I am with my final project for March for Fernli Designs...two mobile phone holders.
As with all products from Fernli Designs, they are beautifully finished and they accept many types of mediums directly to their surface with little or no preparation...
I decided to make different themes and one for a male the other for a female....
I gave the holders, back as well as the front 2 coats of acrylic paint.
While the paint was drying I stamped the images I wanted to do for the male version on to some card and heat embossed the images, coloured them and cut them out.
I used the Inventor, the large script and the label....
Using a selection of acrylic paints I dabbed areas over the holder and once dry I added some shapes through a stencil. I also added a few stamped images directly to the holder...but forgot to take a photo...
For the female version I used some stamps from my stash and stamped over both pieces...then distressed the edges using Aged Mahogany distress ink.
I then added the images to the holders using book glue, ensuring each piece was stuck down securely. The images for the female version were all from my stash.
I assembled both pieces and then gave them 2 coats of Crafters Companion Spray and Shine to seal the paint and images and to create a wipe clean surface.
Below are a few more images..
Thank you to all that visit and leave a comment on my blog......
My Thanks to All at Fernli Designs for having me as their Guest Designer for March....x

My Guest Designer Project for Fernli Designs
As you know my first project was the Atc Box & Atcs, which you can see HERE
For this project I have altered Fernli's 4 Drawer Chest....it arrives flat packed, but is very easy to assemble...I used Pinflair book glue for the drawers for extra bonding, but you can use the glue of your choice
After assembling the unit and allowing the glue to dry, I gave it a light coat of burnt umber acrylic paint and then added designs in texture paste on the tops, sides and also the front of the drawers..I left the centre front of the drawers clear for the handles.
Once everything was dry on the unit I gave it 2 coats of Burnt Umber acrylic paint and then highlighted the textured areas using and Gilding wax and then dabbed Rusty Patina randomly over the whole unit...I also painted the inside of the drawers with Terracotta coloured acrylic paint.
I assembled the chest and starting on the right hand side I added the elements that I had prepared earlier....
Below is the left hand side.
Here is the top....
I added the ball feet to the chest and the handles to the drawers...not exactly what I wanted for the handles, but when folk let you down you have to adapt.
Below I have added a few more images....there are slight colour differences between some of the photos, the weather had been so bad for a few days it was hard getting a good light.
As you can see this chest is just perfect for all my Fernli Embellishments.
I do hope you have enjoyed this blog post..many thanks to all of you that dropped by and left a comment...
I will be back shortly with my 3rd and final project.

Atc Box with Atcs
I was so thrilled to be asked by Lou over at Fernli Designs to be their Guest Designer for March.
In case you don't already know Fernli Designs make some fabulous craft and and not so crafty items, from tiny hearts and cogs to storage for pens, glues, ribbons etc, all Laser Cut from MDF.
Such versatile items, their embellishments look just as good on cards and Tags etc as much as they do for altered art and stand alone pieces..so be sure to pop over for a browse.
Artist Trading Card Box & 6 Trading Cards
So, on to my first project for March....my project was created over several days, allowing glue, paste and paint to dry...and I am totally useless at editing videos for YouTube, saying that I do hope you enjoy reading through..I would love to hear what you think in comments at the end.
The colour variation in some of the photos differ slightly, that was due to bad lighting because of bad weather.
This is the Artist Trading Card box with 6 Trading Cards (please note the atcs do not come with the box, they are available separately)
The box is flat packed, but very easy to assemble, pva glue is as good as any other glue for this product.
Using Black Stazon ink I stamped the back of each card, then after choosing my theme, I added the details, sprayed each one with a sealer by ( Crafters Companion)
Using Black Stazon I stamped images on all sides of the box,
......... including the lid,as you can see above.
I distressed around all the edges of the box and lid with black ink, then sprayed it with the sealer.
I set the box aside to dry and painted the wooden knob for the lid and once that was dry I sealed that too and attached it to the box lid.
To finish I added the Atcs to the box....I have spare MDF trading cards so I shall be adding to this collection..

Using a selection of tester pot emulsion paints from a store, I gave the box 3 coats and the cards 2 coats of paint.
Each card I swiped with a selection of acrylic paints and I also used some inks sprays and once dry, I stamped grungy images with distress inks, then stamped the main image, using black stazon ink.
I left them overnight to dry completely then sealed them with a sealer.

This weeks challenge is now under way over at Go Tag Thursday a great theme too. I have squillions of stamps and it takes me ages to sort through them when I am looking for something in particular.
I have tried many ways of filing them, none of which worked..so now, thanks to my daughter down sizing when she moved, I have been given her huge pine side board..well its more of a ji-normous ( is there such a word, lol ) merchants chest that has 2 very large drawers and 6 large drawers, so now I can file all my stamps in one place...yet still I search, lol.
So here are my Tags that I made to inspire visitors to my Tag Challenge Blog in the hope more will enter the challenge....

Tag # 38
Over at Go Tag Thursday this weeks challenge is now underway. The theme is Men / Boys.
You can create your tag in any way you want, just keep to the theme...you can also enter as many times as you wish, but each entry must have a separate blog post, most of all just have fun...
Unfortunately my plans to create 2 tags this week fell short, the gas engineers were here for 2 days to refit the boiler, difficult to create with people in and out all day, then the putting everything back when they finished..I kind of lost my mojo...so I only managed the one tag...and here it is...
The tag was created from card which I embossed with clocks embossing folder. I distressed the tag with vintage photo ink and then I dabbed some rusty patina on it..once dry I went over the tag with some fine sandpaper. The topper is a vintage playing card by Tim Holtz that I trimmed down and distressed the edges with a distressing tool, then inking the edges with vintage photo distress ink.
I added some torn strips of Tim Holtz backing paper and wrapped around that with some brown waxed cord. I also used some of the backing paper to fit in the lens...

My Green Mixed Media Tag.
Well, I have been very fortunate to have been chosen to join the design team over at More Mixed Media....and I am delighted.
Over at More Mixed Media, the challenges run the 5th of every month at 8am. You can make literally anything you like, must be mixed media, with an optional colour challenge.
Lozzy..the challenge blog owner, sponsors the challenges each month and very generously gives 3 winners a choice of 3 sets of her digi papers...she also, along with her design team, selects 5 favourites.
This month the colour is Green...so I have created a green tag....
My Tag base was distressed using Forest Moss ink and grunge stamps by Indogblu.
The topper was created using stripped back corrugated card that I spritzed with chopped pesto ink by Dylusions.
The main images is a stamp by PaperArtsy and for the smaller tag I used a stamp by Carebelle Studio, the Dream stamp is from a set by Darkroom Door.
As you can see, I dressed the tag up a bit by using a metal frame, some garden twine and a pen nib.
I hope you can pop over to the challenge blog and have a look at what the rest of the design team have created and also have a go at entering the challenge...

Mini Chest...
You know you get stuff out and say I'll get to alter that and somehow it ends up to one side, sadly neglected..well not anymore..this little chest has had a makeover..at last!
I took the original ring handles off of the drawers and then sanded any rough areas down, including the main frame. This is such a sturdy chest and it is made from decent wood too because it smelt lovely..reminded me of when as a child,I would spend hours watching my dad chiselling away on his woodwork, he was a carpenter by trade...at one time he bought me my very own tool kit and gave me lots of off cuts of wood to play with...
I gave the chest 3 coats of gesso as the drawers were a bit grainy as you can see in the above photo on the drawers.
Choosing a colour was the hardest part for me to be honest, mainly because I wanted to use the chest for storing metal embellishments..so I didn't want it to be too light in colour....so I chose Docrafts Midnight Blue acrylic paint..I gave everything 2 coats of paint, once dry I then sprayed everything with crafters companion seal & shine.
You can see in the photo above the lovely shine on the wood....
Using co-ordinating backing papers I covered the front of each door, the sides and the top of the chest.
Setting that aside I painted the 9 wooden knobs in the midnight blue paint.

As the drawer knobs were drying I used the spray and shine twice all over the chest to seal the papers. unfortunately with the lighting on the day due to heavy rain, the photo doesn't do the chest any justice.
I left the chest overnight to completely dry and then attached the knobs to the drawers.
So this is my project for the challenge over at Rhedd's Creative Spirit..the challenge for March has just launched..why not pop over and enter the challenge...you can find it HERE
