Sunday Postcard Art...Eggs!

What a cracking theme...lol...
Over at Sunday Postcard Art  this week's challenge is now underway...love the theme, its so different and was chosen by Hazel...

                              Here is my" Egg" postcard.....

I wasn't sure if I could create a postcard with this theme without going digital...but I am pleased to say I did manage to craft it.
I sourced some postcard backing paper from some of my scraps and glued that to my postcard..it was pretty bare so with some stamps I created a busier background.
The label was cut from a scrap of backing paper ( I throw very little away, lol ) as well as the bird and crowns.
The little girl and eggs were from some free downloads that I printed about a year ago. The ladybug I stamped and coloured in red.

I know somewhere in the depths of my craft room I have a couple of tiny bird's nest, but do you think I could find them...no.
So I coloured some string and raffia with distress inks and created a nest by twisting and weaving the fibres...actually quite pleased with the way it turned out...took a while to get the ink off my fingers though!
I did use glossy accents on the little girlies wings and on the bird and eggs, but it dosen't really show in the photos....stickles stardust glitter on the crowns.
So, if you want to join in the fun..make your postcard (4" x 6") and enter their challenge..take a look at the other entries too...some amazing talent over there.

Steampunk Tags...Tag # 6

This week's Tag # 6 is now underway over at.....
Go Tag Thursday....and the theme is Steam Punk
As always your Tags can be any size, you can use any medium..just stay within the theme, easy right?...why not pop over and enter the challenge.

                          Here are my Steampunk Tags...

I love how the cogs turned out after painting them, then covering the with crackle accents.
I created the background with some small mechanical style stamps and distress inks.
The main image is a Tim Holtz stamp.

Again the background was created using distress inks. The main image was actually given to me..in fact I had about 4 that were put in with an Atc swap I did quite a few years ago....I unearthed them in the depths of my craft room recently and coloured one of them....so glad I did as he is just perfect for the theme.

Do pop over and enter the challenge if you like to make Tags..it's a weekly challenge and the Sneaky Peek Tab in the side bar tells you the theme of the next challenge...would love to see you there.

Here's the challenge..........Go Tag Thursday

Brown & Teal Tag

I've always liked the way Brown & Teal go together, so I couldn't resist taking up the challenge over at Indigoblu

Here's my Brown & Teal Tag.....

The base of the Tag is dark brown, although the photo hasn't really picked that up,the same card was used to mount the IndigoBlu "Wish You Were Here" stamp.
I added the embellishing from my stash and I managed to find some lovely organza ribbon to match the tones....

I've highlighted a section of the card so you can see the brown card..the main Tag I added stencilling in a few areas.
You can find the challenge here at
                    Indigoblu Challenge Blog

( be sure to check their rules before entering as there is a requirement that you use their stamps )

Sunday Postcard Art...Picnic

Oh boy,I was stumped with the theme this week over at Sunday Postcard Art...the theme is Picnic.
I searched for some suitable images and really just couldn't find one I liked enough to print...so this week I decided to create a digital Postcard.

The image I found in the public domain,so was free to use. I also used some images from my digi kits to embellish the postcard....I just love that rabbit, lol.
I also create my own sentiment....

Tag # 5...Flower Power

Tag # 5 challenge has just launched over at
                                  Go Tag Thursday
There's a great theme too...Flower Power...you need flowers,or at least one on your Tag.
As always, any size Tag,any medium, just stay in theme.....go on,unleash your talent!

This Tag I am entering in to the challenge over at Crafty Individuals....the theme there this month is Mini Masterpieces...
My Tag is small,at 3.25" x 2" and I used the fabulous Crafty Individuals background stamp, but because the tag is so small,I wasn't able to use the whole image.
I actually won a challenge there a month or so ago and I chose this particular stamp as my prize..I love it.

The lace is genuinely vintage..I bought a few yards of it from a lady who took over an old haberdashery shop,so this lace is about 30 years old, maybe more...I love it and use it very sparingly, lol.

Audrey Hepburn at Sunday Postcard Art

I decided to go digital with my postcard this week. I had several images to play with, but this one of Audrey Hepburn worked the best for me...it just seemed to "fit" with my design.

I added a few flowers and one of Audrey's own quotes...

Do pop over and join in with the challenge..postcards must be 4"x 6", you can flip from portrait to landscape, depends on your design.

Mini Houses.

I did have fun creating my project for Julys challenge over at Rhedds Creative Spirit....these little houses and key clips are all made from Jenga blocks and children's building blocks.

First I selected all the shapes I needed, just a few of these are shown in the photo....then I glued the jenga blocks in twos and threes, as well as leaving some single. Any good glue will hold the blocks together..I used book glue.

After leaving the glue to completely dry overnight, I set too and sorted through some scraps of backing papers that I keep in a box, you know, the bits we keep because we know they will be useful at some point, lol...I have a large box of those bits!

I covered all sides of the blocks, as well as the triangle blocks that I set aside for the roofs, again using book glue.

Now for the fun part..I added the roof for each house, making sure they were securely glued in place,  then I created some windows from scraps....adding embellishments to the roof as I went along as well as distressing the edges of each house with ink. To finish I added a word to each of the houses.....
These are all now sitting on my kitchen window sill.....they make me smile.

For the key holders, I found some small screw in eyes and after making a small hole in the tops of the blocks, I screwed the eyes in using a small drop of E600 glue...then left them over night for the glue to dry.

The next thing I did was to stamp a word on each of the key holders and then I sprayed them twice each with spray and shine giving them a  nice sheen and varnish to protect them from wear and tear.

Beside the Sea Door Hanger

It challenge time again over at Altered Eclectics...the design team have created some amazing projects to inspire you, just pop over for a look, you won't be disappointed.
My design team project this month is a.......

                             Seaside themed Door Hanger

I bought two of this style door hanger ages ago and completely forgot I had them until recently, well I found them when I was tidying my craft stash.
They are made from a brown board, similar to grey board, they weren't very thick, which is why I bought the two so I could glue them together.
So after gluing them together I painted them all over with gesso twice. then after drying over night I gave it one coat of white acrylic paint.
Once that was completely dry I dry brushed pale blue acrylic paint all over the hanger.

I  used Coffee Archival ink to stamp the beach huts and then the birds and verse at the top of the hanger. I used Gathered Twigs Ink to distress the edges of the hanger.
Then I started to add the embellishments....the seagull is actually a button, I removed the shank on the back so I could glue it better to the drift wood. The netting is from the mesh bag that my oranges were in and the pebble with the hole in it is a recent beach find and was just perfect for this project.
Hope you like it ....
