Altered Shell House

Well, another restless night for me,so I decided to get up and update my blog with my latest creation that I finished sunday evening.
My friend had given me a wooden thimble holder that she found in a charity shop last year, I think she said it cost £1 she said she  thought of me and bought it.

( measures 23cms x 11cms)

So I sanded it down, gessoed it, then painted it with white acylic paint. Once it was dry I then sanded it ever so slightly and then swiped it with chocolate brown acrylic paint, which I then lightened using a baby wipe.
While it was drying I sorted through all my shells and drift wood and shingle to put in to the compartments.

Once all the compartments were filled, I then cut some acetate to fit and adhered it in place using hot glue. Finally I added some scrim, shells, string, some orange mesh (the mesh bag from my oranges) and some small pieces of driftwood  as decoration...

I am entering this in to these challenges.....

A New Altered Art Challenge Blog

I have finally got around to launching my very own Altered Art Challenge Blog. It's been something I have wanted to do for almost a year..
The challenges will run monthly...it's also a prize winning blog and the winner will receive a Prize as well as a Winner's Badge.
I have a small design team on board and they have made some truly stunning makes, well worth popping over to the blog for a look at them, you won't be disappointed.
This is the fabulous prize on offer for the winner of February's Challenge, a Pen Pot/ Holder...beautifully finished and all ready for altering.

                    Measurements are 8.5cms x 12cms

This is my creation for for your inspiration....A Bird House Plaque, which I have decorated with lace,mesh and other embellishments, all gessoed and then coloured using the Glimmer Mist Sprays...

Shades of the Same Colour

These are something I rarely make, they are a set of "Moos"...little works of art measuring 2.8cms x 7cms. 

I wanted to make something a little different,but not fancy and I decided to use a new stamp and divide the image up to make 3 Moos. I just love the sentiment.

The "Moos" are my design team piece for Craftyhands, their 7th challenge is now under way and the theme is great  "Shades of the Same Colour"...as you can see I went for purples...

Anything Goes

This is the theme going on over at Rhedd and Rosies Challenge blog for the next fortnight.....
The team were given a selection of digi images from SBDO
 ( http://stitchybearstamps.com/shop/   who are the sponsors for this challenge and are offering $10 to be spent across 3 designers ) and they have used them extremely well, so do pop over for a look...
This I what I created with the image I chose...

I painted the recessed frame and added some Korma Crackle...silly me didn't read the drying time...1-5days, so after 24 hours I used my heat gun, but sad to say the crackle didn't crackle enough so I resorted to distressing the frame with some sandpaper.
The digi image I coloured with water colour pencils ( with out the water,lol )  The image was slightly too wide for the frame,so I trimmed the bird and the post and added it to the frame...finishing with some drift wood,string and a couple of shells.

Something New

I am so happy to announce that my brand new Altered Art Challenge Blog will be launching on 1st February.
This blog is something that I have been planning to do for absolutely ages...I started with Rhedd &Rosies and with thanks to the teamies, past and present and all the good folk that enter the challenges it is going strong....and I hope it will continue to do so.
My new blog "Rhedds Creative Spirit" will be running challenges the 1st of every month and it will, like Rhedd &Rosies be a prize winning blog....so make a note in your diary and be sure to pop back, myself and my team will look forward to seeing you there.

Baby,it's cold outside....

Well I decided today that I would take time out and enter one of my favourite challenges...I've been busy creating my design team pieces for my blogs and I've missed entering some of the challenges I like.

The theme is Baby,it's cold outside....and I had just the right image and back ground for this theme.

The background image is an actual photograph taken by a friend of mine, Stephen Ring  ( who has since moved to Florida and married a wonderful lady, who has completed his world )  He sent me ( before he moved ) some fabulous snow images from where he used to live...so for this tag I printed the image on to card and used just a section for the tag itself. The lady wrapped in the blue coat was an image from ages ago that I kept on file to use at a later date...I then added sparkle to the snowy tree and fence.

Finally I added the sentiment which I printed, they are a few words from a song, but fitted this theme perfectly....love how the flash has added that extra sparkle to the glitter...

Put a Tag on It

Here we are again,another challenge over at CraftyHands....I am so pleased I made my design team piece in plenty of time, I've been feeling pretty rough for most of this week, a lot of back and hip pain and a flare up of the fibro.

So here is my creation....this is a wooden "Love" word that I have decopatched in  lovely vintage floral tissue.. I then made and tied on a For Sale tag...

No White....

It's that time again...another fabby challenge over at Rhedd and Rosies.

The theme is "No White" and this is my dt creation. A decoupatched dress form.

I made the stick pins in to marry up with the main colours and the feathers to give the pieice some flounce.
