"Home"

I seem to have had this little "Home" board book and these papers hanging around in my craft room for ages. They get moved from place to place each time I have a "tidy up" So today I decided decorate the book...I've not added many embellishments as for me,the papers looked better on their own, just a few sticky gems a bow and the ribbons on the book rings.
I may get around to embellishing the inside with pockets and Tags, but for now I can put it somewhere safe rather than moving it around,lol....

It's all about Texture

Well there's a great challenge just started over at Rhedd & Rosies...the theme is "All about Texture" there must be some form of texture on your entry.
For my design team piece I used some cardboard, measuring 5"x 5" which I then stripped a section back to the corrugation underneath.
I gessoed the whole piece, then using 2 stencils added some texture using grunge paste. Once dry I added another coat of gesso

Once the whole piece was thoroughly dry I then sprayed with Artiste Gold Stone Ink Spray...I just love this colour and it brings the texture up beautifully.
To finish I added a lovely vintage image, which matched perfectly colour wise and then the splash of colour with the flowers and hanging ribbon.
Do pop along and have a look at the challenge, Teamie Zoe is sponsoring this challenge and is offering this fabulous stamp for our winner.

Civil War Altered Tin

PICTURE HEAVY POST.....
Some of you may not be aware that I run an Altered Art Challenge Blog....Rhedd's Creative Spirit.....something that I had wanted to do for a very long time.3 months ago I took the plunge and created the blog and I am so pleased that each month there has been  a few more entries. All the feed back and comments have been positive and I am so thrilled that so many people are so supportive. I have a small, but brilliant design team that work alongside me and they really are a wonderful bunch of girls, not to mention talented.
We have just launched our 4th Challenge. As always it is an "Anything Goes" challenge "Altered Art Only" and I do have a prize each month for our winner.
As owner and Head Teamie, I have made this as my design piece for May's Challenge...hope you like it..

All the stamps used are from the American Civil War set by Oxford Impressions.....the photo stamps are just amazing, all I had to do was to age them slightly around the edges.
The lid of the tin was gessoed and then grunged using a couple of stencils, dried then sprayed with Glimmermist Sprays.
We do have a wonderful sponsor for this challenge...
                              FERNLI DESIGNS
and they are offering our winner this fantastic box of wood shapes, so many pieces in there, some you can use as stand alone pieces and some you can use for mixed media etc.
I have many pieces from Fernli Designs myself and can vouch for their quality and customer service, such lovely people.

She's a Beauty....

I've missed entering some blog challenges recently...mind you I've had to trawl through so many, as a lot offer digi images and for me they are a complete waste of money, I rarely ever use them, plus I'm pretty rubbish at colouring.

5"x 5" Cardboard Plaque

I did manage to find a lovely challenge blog, one that I do follow but have yet to enter and it is "That's Crafty"  I have actually ordered craft goodies from them in the past and I can vouch for their service.
So the theme is "Black & White with a Splash of Colour" so this is my entry.
A piece of cardboard that is from the box my printer came in, it's really rigid. I ripped some of the backing off to reveal the corrugated bit...which I then painted in matt black acrylic paint.
Leaving that to dry I stamped my image and matted and layered it on to white and black card.
I managed to find a piece of white feather and with some white string pearls and my roses and applied them to my plaque.

The butterfly was stamped again on some spare card, which I then coloured with distress ink to match the flower...adding the same colour wire for the antennae, I adhered the butterfly to the image with a sticky pad.
You can find the challenge I am entering this plaque in to here at That's Crafty

Travel Tag

Another challenge has just been set over at CraftyHands Challenge Blog...as part of their design team it was my turn to choose the theme..."TRAVEL"
This is my design team piece for the blog....

I've used my lovely set of stamps from Artistic Outpost for my Tag. The images are all single layers that I created by masking.
Finally adding the sentiment that was matted and layered and applied with sticky pads.
There's a lovely prize on offer for this challenge too, some decoupaged sheets and stickers.

Why not pop over for a look, the design team have made some stunning samples for this theme too...

A Little Trinket Box

My mojo just upped and left before I could add any more embellishing to my little trinket box...don't you just hate it when that happens!

This little box ( measures 4.5" x 4.5" )  is my design team piece for Rhedd & Rosie's Challenge that started today. I had stained the box with Barn Door distress ink then went over it with some gold gilding wax to antique it a bit.
The canvas insert in the lid I covered with lace and then gessoed it all over, once dry I used a light gold Glimmer Mist spray to colour it.I got as far as adding the flowers and old Mr Mojo just chose that moment to disappear...sob.
So all that was added were the corner pieces and the clock...I had ideas for a vintage image, but the more I played the more of a mess I made,so it was best to leave it as it was...hope you like it.

A fabulous prize for the winner of the challenge, which is sponsored by our lovely resident teamie MOIRA

A Pretty Bottle....

This is my first time at altering a bottle...this one was lovely and was crying out to be decorated. So I decided this would be my design team piece for my Altered Art Challenge Blog.
I covered the bottle using a beautiful cotton lace doily that was my mothers, I remember it being on her dressing table and if my memory serves me right it was made by her mother, my grandmother.
The trims were all from my stash and so were the lovely soft foam roses, which were just the right colour.

I would love to see you over at Rhedds Creative Spirit, its an Altered Art Blog and the challenges run monthly...with a prize for the winner each month, this is this months prize, a Tim Holtz Configuration Box...

Well worth entering the challenge for, you can find it here......Rhedd's Creative Spirit
