February..the month for Love...

Not quite a romantic heart  to define Valentines Day,but a pretty heart none the less....my project for this months challenge over at Rhedd's Creative Spirit.

My heart started as a plain old polystyrene heart that has been knocking about in my craft room for ages..so I decided to do something with it...

To start I painted it twice with Gesso...then using a selection of Do Craft inks sprays I coloured it..set it to one side to dry....in the mean time I sorted out some embellishments.

Once the heart was dry I spread a little PVA glue to one side of the heart and sprinkled on some micro beads...boy, these little suckers have a life of their own don't they, they literally popped around everywhere. I left the heart to dry over night.

Once I knew everything was completely dry I pierced through the centre of the heart with a very fine knitting needle and then pushed through the cords from my tassel.
To finish I glued on the flowers and the pearls...

Paris Canvas

Februarys challenge is now underway over at Altered Eclectics...so I decided to create something a little Romantic, it was also a good way to use up a tag that I created for my Tag Challenge blog ( link is in my sidebar )

Out of the depths of my craft room, I found this old preprinted canvas that my friend had given me about a year ago, it measures 9.5" x 12

I coated it twice with gesso and then added texture using my homemade texture paste.

I then used some slightly diluted acrylic paints that I had put in to spray bottles and sprayed randomly all over the canvas..then set it aside to dry.
Using my Paris Tag, I layered it up on scrap papers ready to add to my canvas.
Once the canvas was dry I stamped some areas with script the with a bottle top and white acrylic paint I made some circles on the canvas, also with a loaded brush flicked the same paint across the board...again leaving it to dry.

I added my tag and layers ...

 then added some sisal strands, flowers and metal embellishments.

Sepia Postcard

Sepia is the theme,chosen by Rosie, over at Sunday Postcard Art this week..and this is my postcard.

I used a selection of stamps from Artistic Outpost for this card....along with Sepia Archival ink...surprising what you can create when you have trouble sleeping at night,lol...

Epherema Tag

This weeks challenge is now underway over at Go Tag Thursday...I can't believe I created this challenge blog 32 weeks ago..and a few folk still love to enter the challenge..so I am very happy to continue running the blog
Tag # 32 theme is Epherema....and here is mine..I would normally create 2 tags for the blog, but time has run away from me this week....

Tag # 31...Feathers

The theme over at Go Tag Thursday this week is Feathers.
So I have made 2 Tags..one using stamped paper feathers,using a free stamp from an older edition of the craft stamper magazine.
The larger tag,I have used real feathers and boy do they float around, I was almost afraid to breathe over them as they move so easily..twice I found a couple of them on the floor,lol.

Sunday Postcard Art

I am determined this year to enter more challenges..last year I kind of tailed off a bit and became quite lazy and ended up just concentrating on my own blogs.
So to start off 2017 I am returning to Sunday Postcard Art Challenge Blog..I have always loved this blog and have entered their challenges before....worth taking a look as the work that gets entered there is just awesome.
So here we are..my Sunday Postcard, the theme is Tape/Rulers...luckily for me I have a few stamps that fitted the bill.

                           Postcards must measure 4"x 6"
The stamps I have used here are mainly from Oxford Impressions, with other stamps by Inkyliscious and Paperartsy.

Haberdashery Tag

This weeks challenge is now underway over at Go Tag Thursday and the theme is Haberdashery.
Here are my two Tags that I created for inspiration..I am hoping a few more people will enter the challenge...

Happy New Year & January's Challenge.

Wishing all my friends a Very Happy and Healthy New Year.
Over at Rhedd's Creative Spirit their first challenge for 2017 is now underway..as always there is no theme and no paper crafts..so all mixed media, recylced and altered art is acceptable.
My project this month is a box I altered for a bracelet that I bought for my grandson's girlfriend.
I was unable to buy a box,so rooted through my stash and found one that would be suitable.

 In the base of the box I glued a circle of sponge and covered it all in some black satin material, gluing it in places around the sides with hot glue.

On the lid I added a wide strip of ribbon, securing it with double sided tape and then made a liner from navy blue card

To dress the top I created a flower using lace, a fabric centre, finishing with a bow and pearl gem.
My grandsons girlfriend was delighted with the box as much as she was with the bracelet.
