Well here we are, in to October already. Beautiful colours everywhere with the trees and shrubs changing, to me it's such a lovely time of the year. Suits me too now the weather is cooler.
Time again for another challenge over at More Mixed Media
As always it is anything goes, but with the option of using the colour orange in your project.
For my design team project this time I have gone back to my journal. I have some lovely paper napkins that have lush leaves printed on them and I thought they would be perfect for the orange option.
I gessoed the blank pages then added some scraps of paper, swipe over with a thin layer of gesso again. I left it to dry completely overnight.
Using a selection of stamps I added more to the background and then swiped orange acrylic paint over the page using dry brush, again I left it a while to completely dry before adding my paper napkins leaves.
I actually left the pages alone for a few days as I had lost my mojo and didn't want to mess up a great background.
So here I am, already to add to my pages...
I remembered I had a rubber stamp that was part of a brick wall, so I used that for the ladies to sit on, worked out quite well, especially after I coloured the bricks.
On to my 2nd page, again I used the brick stamp, more randomly this time, trying to make it look like the wall was damaged, not sure if I achieved that very well, but I was reluctant at this stage to do to much incase I messed it all up.
I added the young lad walking his dog.
I added shading around the people to give them a bit of shadow, first time I have ever done that and I am pleased with the effect
Finally on both pages I added a few words then flicked over both pages with some white acrylic paint.
I also used a black water colour pencil randomly around the edges of the pages and smudged them with a damp finger.
Yes, I love the pages, very autumnal and not to overwhelming with the orange colour.
I hope you can find time this month to join in with our challenge, there is a prize on offer of some papers of your choice, detail over on the challenge blog, which you can find here at
I would like to enter my journal pages to these great challenges over at

Gorgeous art journal pages.
That autumn color scheme is spectacular! I always love those vintage images. Tim Holtz has a whole bunch of them....unfortunately for me!
Take care,
Suzette
