Mother Nature Postcard Art

I managed to get a postcard made late this afternoon for this weeks challenge over st Sunday Postcard Art...the theme is Mother Nature.
My postcard is nowhere near as stunning as the sample that Deann has made...in fact mine is rather dull due to the awful lighting here today.

I created a collage with several different nature stamps and using the large butterfly from the same set, made an embellishment..I added some holographic embossing powder to it to make the wings sparkle, but the photo doesn't really capture that at all..shame as it is quite pretty.

Huckleberry Finn Door Stop.

I decided to alter a door stop for the challenge this month over at Artistic Outpost..I do love their challenges, as well as love their stamps.
So I rooted around in my stash and found the bundle of door stops or as some people call them, door wedges, I bought yonks ago..only to find several of them hadn't been carved on the shoulders..so out of the four I only had two that I could use..that is so annoying.

First I gave the Door Stop a coat of gesso, then painted it blue..which I didn't like, so gave it 2 coats of white acrylic paint.

Once that was completely dry I stamped on the front and the sides using the Huckleberry Finn stamps by Artistic Outpost.

I used the long strip that said Huckleberry Finn and wrapped and pressed it on the knob of the door stop....all stamps were stamped with Stazon Black.

I coloured the main image on the front with water colour pencils and then blended them with a paper stump, just to take off some of the grainy look.

I inked the edges of the doorstop with mahogany distress ink and then sprayed it to seal it with Crafter's Companion spray and shine..once the first coat was dry I then gave it another 2 coats...
I made a tag and added the script from the same set of stamps...I actually sprayed that too and once everything was dry I finished it all off by tying around the top with bakers twine.

In the above photo you can just about see the shine..unfortunately the photo doesn't do it justice...
There are still a few days left of the challenge..why not pop over for a look..you do need to use there products though..

My Colourful Tag

Time again for a challenge over at Go Tag Thursday
The theme this week was chosen my dear friend Nanette...she has so much going on in her private life at the moment so I do appreciate that she has taken time out for this weeks challenge...her theme is Go Bold with Colour
Here is my Tag..I have a mottled background that I created with watered down acrylic paints and sprayed on to some watercolour card...then I sprayed over that with water and it created the lovely blurry mottled effect..I left the card in situ until it dried as it was really quite wet and I didn't want to muddy up the colours.

I inked the cogs stamp and then heat embossed the cogs for the background, doing the same on some spare card for the images...finally adding a few gems and the ribbon.
Do pop over to the blog for a lookie, I would love it if could enter the challenge..any size tag, any medium..just keep in theme...

Chocolate Postcard....

Such an unusual theme over at Sunday Postcard Art this week...."Chocolate"
My brain went in to overdrive to be honest....I was thinking Death By Chocolate...Vintage Chocolate Posters..Modern Day Chocolate Wrappers / labels.

I eventually decided to create a digital postcard 4"x 6" using a Vintage Poster Image and some background and embellishing from Serif Craft Artist...and with tweaking a few effects I am actually pleased with my postcard.

It's sunday and time for a new challenge over at Sunday Postcard Art
I missed last weeks challenge having had a busy week, but I have was home all day saturday and managed to fit in making my postcard for today.

Kay is the host this week and she has chosen the theme "Wheels"..so I have thought outside of the box a bit and used the children's song "The Wheels on the Bus"
I have used a selection of different London stamps, the actual Bus stamp was a freebie from PaperArtsy many moons ago when I placed an order with them, in fact I have only used this stamp once before.
Be sure to check out the challenge, postcards must be 4"x 6" and you can find it here at

This is my 2nd Tag....the little vintage girl is a free download. The background stamp is by Crafty Individuals that I won a few weeks ago. The script, unfortunately isn't that visible is also from a stamp set by Crafty Individuals and reads..."Through the eyes of a child"
