Butterflies Postcard

Its so dark and dismal here today with the rain,,,,so I shall be staying indoors today and get on with some crafting projects.
I had intended blogging my postcard yesterday for Sunday Postcard Art, but developed a headache and ended up staying off my lap top.
The theme this week is Butterflies..a fabulous sample by the guest host, so well worth a visit..you will also get to see my Dictionary Postcard was one of several to be showcased..of course I am delighted.

The background was a piece of art paper from my stash that I previously grated intense colour blocks on and spritzed with water..I cut it to 4"x 6" and then used some Indigoblu grungy stamps in fossilised amber and peacock feathers.
The image and script are also stamps by Indigoblu...the butterflies are from my stash.

Mini Houses

Little boxes on a hillside, little boxes made out of ticky tacky..do you remember that song from many moons ago..well that's the theme behind my mini houses..not quite boxes though..as you scroll through the photo's you will see how I have created these mini masterpieces..apart from the papers and embellishment, each mini house is made from Fernli Designs domino shapes and off cuts.

This is what I started with...

I selected a few of the domino shapes for the taller house and also several squares /rectangles for the smaller houses....cutting some squares diagonally to create the apex under the roof...

I glued pieces together for thickness and added the apex for each house...

Once all the pieces were dry I decorated each house with Prima's Engraver papers...and then added and papered the roof of each house.

To finish I added a word to each house and some keys....

The first house is just 3.5" high (9.5cms) the second house is 2" high (5.5 cms) and the third house is just 1.5" high (4.5 cms)
I just love them and had so much fun making  them too....

Postcard Art

Dictionary is the theme over at Sunday Postcard Art this week....so I thought I would join in with the fun.
My "dictionary" page is from a dictionary that was actually misprinted..it had some pages missing from it, so rather than throw it away I kept it.

I tore my page in to strips after spritzing them with Dylusion Ink spray in Ground Coffee...the images are from Ephemera's Vintage Garden.."Cabbage Patch Whimsey"...
The "words" are from stamps in my stash.

February..the month for Love...

Not quite a romantic heart  to define Valentines Day,but a pretty heart none the less....my project for this months challenge over at Rhedd's Creative Spirit.

My heart started as a plain old polystyrene heart that has been knocking about in my craft room for ages..so I decided to do something with it...
To start I painted it twice with Gesso...then using a selection of Do Craft inks sprays I coloured it..set it to one side to dry....in the mean time I sorted out some embellishments.
Once the heart was dry I spread a little PVA glue to one side of the heart and sprinkled on some micro beads...boy, these little suckers have a life of their own don't they, they literally popped around everywhere. I left the heart to dry over night.

Once I knew everything was completely dry I pierced through the centre of the heart with a very fine knitting needle and then pushed through the cords from my tassel.
To finish I glued on the flowers and the pearls...

Paris Canvas

Februarys challenge is now underway over at Altered Eclectics...so I decided to create something a little Romantic, it was also a good way to use up a tag that I created for my Tag Challenge blog ( link is in my sidebar )

Out of the depths of my craft room, I found this old preprinted canvas that my friend had given me about a year ago, it measures 9.5" x 12

I coated it twice with gesso and then added texture using my homemade texture paste.

I then used some slightly diluted acrylic paints that I had put in to spray bottles and sprayed randomly all over the canvas..then set it aside to dry.
Using my Paris Tag, I layered it up on scrap papers ready to add to my canvas.
Once the canvas was dry I stamped some areas with script the with a bottle top and white acrylic paint I made some circles on the canvas, also with a loaded brush flicked the same paint across the board...again leaving it to dry.

I added my tag and layers ...

then added some sisal strands, flowers and metal embellishments.
