Steampunk / Mechanical

I am hosting this fortnights challenge over at Tag Tuesday and for my theme I chose Steampunk / Mechanical.
I think this subject covers such a wide spectrum, so I am hoping to see lots of entries...

I used mount board for the tag and covered it with black gesso. once dry I added some texture paste through a stencil..once that was dry I swiped over some browns, orange and yellow acrylic paints.
I stamped the Robotic man on some waste card left over from a project where I used oxide inks.I trimmed him to fit the card and stamped the script and set that to one side.
The chicken wire ( from Fernli Designs ) was treated with some Rustic paste and added to the tag..doing the same with the cogs and pipe.
Finally adding the image and adding a chain for the loop at the top.

For the second tag..again created from mount board, I painted with white gesso, then added texture via a stencil..once dry I swiped with red, orange, yellow and dark brown acrylic paints.
I stamped the image and script and added them along with the die cut cogs, adding a chain to finish.

I hope my two Tags will inspire you to join us over at

Noble Gentlemen.....

Tag Tuesday have got their challenge underway..a great theme too, chosen by Valarie.
Her theme is Black & White with a spot of colour.
This is my take on the theme...a fab stamp that I bought from a declutter group on facebook sometime ago.

Using a white tag I stamped these fabulous gents in black versafine ink..then I just stamped the sentiment part of the stamp on some green card and cut them out and laid them over the original sentiment.
I finished the tag by using distress ink in black for the edges of the tag.
If you enjoy making Tags and love a challenge, why not pop over to Tag Tuesday and join us....

Hints of Yellow......

The April Challenge has just commence over at More Mixed Media...
As always it's Anything Goes/Mixed Media, you can also play along with our twist..which is  to use the colour "Yellow"
My design team project is a Door Hanger...
I found some scrap card that was white with splodges of yellow on it and used it to cover the hanger.
I added sections of other colour with dusting brushes and inks..then stamped the images.

I coloured the images and then added embellishments to the base of the hanger...

Searching through my stash I came across this lovely sentiment that was perfect for the hanger.
To finish I distress the edges of the hanger  with yellow distress ink.

The rest of the set...

Hello Everyone..here as promised are the other Tags I created for the challenge over at Tag Tuesday
The theme is Diamonds are Forever and this is my take on that theme...

The tag is the same as my previous one, I made it by using oxide inks, masks and stamps..then scanned it. and saved  the image....

Using my saved image I took it to my art programme and overlaid the image of Marilyn Munroe..again saved the image.

To finish all I had to do was take the image to my paint programme and add the script...I am so pleased with this set, they worked out really well.
Do pop over and check out the challenge blog..especially if you love making tags..you can find it here at

Reworked Box Frame

I happened to come across this box frame in my recycling boxes while I was looking for something else. My friend had given it to me quite some time ago and it was rather grubby as it was in her shed.
Luckily it cleaned up rather well...so I decided to use it for my design team project over at
Rhedd's Creative Spirit for their April Challenge

The mount of the frame is plastic, so that came up really well after washing it.
I decided to go with the Haberdashery theme, so I covered the back plate in white muslin and then overlaid that with a white cotton doily.
The dressform was left natural and just sprayed with a gloss sealer..then a bow was added. The lovely wooden heart buttons were found in my button box..I found 2 and eventually found a 3rd one in a pot on my work desk..all embellishments were adhered to the doily with hot glue.

I slid the back plate back in to the frame and secured it with the tabs....the vintage pearly buttons were added to one corner and the sewing embellishments to the corner.
I rather like the finished piece and it now has pride of place on my sideboard.

If you enjoy creating using altered art, recycling ete ( no papercrafting ) then why not pop over and join in with the challenge..you can find it here at

New Pen Pot

My design team project for Altered Ecletics this month is an altered coffee tin.
I had some gorgeous double sided vintage papers in my stash..and decided to go with these for my tin.

First I adhered the book label to the front of the tin..then after cutting the middle section ( about halfway down ) of the main paper and curling back the corners, I then adhered that to the tin..making sure that the label was visible.

For the trim I used some hessian and overlaid that with dark brown lace. From my lace remnants I found a pretty piece of lace that I scrunched up a bit and adhered it to the front of my tin..adding a couple of leaves and flowers.
I really like the way this looked after finishing..perfect for my pens...
