Charity shop find & Yvonne's challenge

This gorgeous cotton and lace bag was a little grubby and creased, but I could see it's potential and decided to buy it (just a few pennies) I left it to soak over night, which lifted all the dirt, then rinsed, dried and ironed it. Then I packed it away to wait for the right project came along so I could use it.......
Then a little over a week ago Yvonne White ( who is in admin in UK&Ireland Crafts Swap Group) on facebook offered members the chance to win a prize by entering her challenge. We had to use a vintage image (supplied by Yvonne) in our entry and it had to be in by 15th June.
I've not been feeling too grand and decided to do some sewing rather than craft down in my garage and this is my entry using that charity shop cotton bag....

Taken in the sunshine

I  transferred the image on to muslin, which was then layered on some cotton fabric. Using some wadding I padded the image area and then layered the whole piece over more muslin and cotton.
I used 2 different styles of lace, although both are cotton...once stitched in place I then stitched on the string pearls and the 2 ribbon bows. I then frayed some of the edges of the cotton and muslin behind the lace.

This is how it looks hanging on my wardrobe door...so pleased with the way it looks...what a bit of luck finding that bag....
